“Yesterday, I rode for safety,“ said 17-year-old Lower Austrian Victoria Wurzinger, who was 3rd (70.27 percent) in Saturday’s Team Competition, almost apologetically.

After all, this is the 1st international show for the athlete, who ranked 9th at the 2015 Junior EC, and her newest horse Bvlgari. An additional aspect: they participated before the eyes of horse sponsor Elisabeth Max-Theurer, who had handed over the 11-year-old gelding to the care of Victoria and her mum and trainer Bettina in November 2016.

“Today, I risked more and it paid off! Buli (Bvlgari’s stable name) has an enormous fighting spirit and doesn’t let you down in the arena,“ said the athlete from Breitenfurt who will soon successfully finish 11th grade at Liese Prokop Private School for Professional Athletes.

The other Austrians also showed good performances before the eyes of Diana Wünschek, chef d’equipe and Head of Dressage of the Austrian Equestrian Federation, who will nominate her team for the Junior European Championships (for Children, 12 to 14 years; Juniors, 14 to 18 years; and Young Riders, 16 to 21 years) in Roosendaal (NED; 9 to 13 August) next week.

“The performances shown were very promising with regard to the EC. The team has actually created itself“, said Diana Wünschek.
